Anthony Campo of CrossfitSurfCityUSA.com, told us about how he got started in the world of elite fitness. Its all started when he was playing fullback for Orange Coast College. His time in the 40 yard dash was 4.7 seconds, extremely fast but not the ideal 4.4 seconds that is sought for players of the fullback position.
Anthony decided that he needed expert coaching in order to improve his time in the 40 yard dash. After as series of disappointments in which Anthony realized that none of the so-called experts knew enough to really help him a friend introduced him to Crossfit. The rest is, as they say, history.
The Crossfit system that Anthony teaches and uses personally is one that stresses functional movement as opposed to “body building”. You will pick things up and put them down, raise them over your head in a carefully crafted set of exercises designed to work with one another to promote elite levels of fitness that will propel you through life’s challenges and serve your goal of excellence.
All workouts are scaled to your current level of fitness, designed to continually challenge you to improve and use a full range of movement. Weight loss and looking great are two more obvious benefits of the Crossfit program.
Anthony also recommends what is known as the Paleo Diet: no processed foods, only whole grains, fresh vegetables and limited fruit to keep you both energized and lean.
Your introduction to Crossfit may be a set of 40 squats, 30 situps, 20 push ups and 10 pullups. You will be timed for this and a record kept so that your improvement can be gauged. Don’t worry if this sounds daunting or even impossible to begin with. For example the pullups can be assisted with elastic straps.
