Jesus Arizaga has been doing landscape design since 2001 but has 21 years of experience in landscaping, hardscaping, waterscapes, ponds and fountains. He came to the United States in 1988 and began working at the Seal Beach Courtyard Nursery. He’s been happily married to Jennifer since 2003 and they have a 3 year old son.

Many times the landscaper doesn’t have the right supplies, maybe they’re stuck with a 10′ radius nozzle when only a 5′ radius nozzle is what’s needed. In addition standard high-flow nozzles put too much water on the ground, it can’t be absorbed quickly enough and runs off. He always uses low-flow nozzle where he can because it gives the water time to be absorbed. More nozzles at more frequent intervals helps to keep the water off of the sidewalk. Home Depot is NOT a sufficient source for professional landscape design. The cost for good landscaping components is not prohibitive and a good system will save you money over time.

Jesus recommends that you water for 10 mins only every other day at most and many modern breeds of grass can do very well on one 10 minute watering a week. Jesus uses his own home as a laboratory for his landscaping experiments first so his techniques are proven before he brings them to market. If your sprinkler system is bad you may need to water 15-20 minutes twice a week. Water a night to avoid the sun and thus keep evaporation down.

Jesus recommends Marathon I, II and III grasses as they need 40% less sunlight and still looks green and healthy. He can install drip watering systems and add timers to existing sprinkler systems as well.
